What is the environmental friendliness and print suitability of the no-rinse CTP plate?

Compared to various types of printing plates, the no-wash CTP plate is currently recognized as the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly plate.

Compared to various types of printing plates, the no-wash CTP plate is currently recognized as the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly plate. The no-wash CTP plate refers to a process that truly eliminates the washing step in the plate-making stage; after exposure, the printing plate does not require a developing machine for development and can be directly printed. For example, Kodak Tengger no-wash CTP plates eliminate all chemicals, water, equipment, electricity, and waste associated with washing or cleaning steps; there is no need for time-consuming tasks such as developing plates, re-making plates, cleaning and maintaining developing machines or cleaning devices, saving production costs, pre-press time, and space.

For example, if a printing company has 5 CTP machines and calculates a monthly usage of 2000m2 per machine without considering energy consumption, cleaning costs, space occupation, etc., the cost savings from the three major steps of development, washing, and waste liquid treatment with no-wash CTP plates compared to ordinary thermal CTP plates can save approximately 10,000 to 20,000 yuan per month. Over a year, this could amount to savings of 120,000 to 240,000 yuan.

From the above analysis, it can be seen that the environmental friendliness and low cost of no-wash CTP plates are indeed commendable. However, some may still ask about no-wash CTP plates:

How is the printing effect?

How is the print durability?

How compatible is it with printing machines?

What about the price?

...

Here we still take Kodak Tengger no-wash CTP plates as an example.

(1) Printing effect. After years of updates and iterations, Kodak Tengger no-wash CTP plates have reached a sensitivity level equivalent to ordinary thermal CTP at 150mJ. The dot reproduction range is from 1% to 99%, which not only exceeds that of ordinary thermal CTP plates but also leads in the category of no-wash CTP plates.

(2) Print durability. Kodak Tengger no-wash CTP plates can achieve up to 100,000 copies for single-sheet printing and up to 200,000 copies for commercial rotary printing; non-UV offset packaging printing can reach up to 50,000 copies. This basically meets customer needs; print volume is no longer an issue.

(3) Compatibility. Compatibility is an important factor in evaluating the performance of no-wash CTP plates. Kodak Tengger's performance in this area is commendable; it meets most customers' usage requirements and achieves excellent results.

(4) Price. Although Kodak Tengger's no-wash CTP plate costs slightly more than ordinary thermal CTP plates, costs can be offset through strategic cooperation with Kodak. Thus, the comprehensive cost advantages brought by Kodak Tengger's no-wash CTP plate become very apparent.

Currently, several printing companies are using Kodak Tengger's no-wash CTP plate such as Changzhou Tonghua Printing Co., Ltd., Beijing Shengtong Printing Co., Ltd., Yunnan Kanglong Color Printing Packaging Co., Ltd., Shanghai Newspaper Group Printing Center Longwu Printing Factory etc., all reflecting positively and stating that using Kodak Tengger's no-wash CTP plate has brought cost benefits and environmental benefits to their companies.

In summary, no-wash CTP plates (such as Kodak Tengger's) are products of modern development whose benefits far exceed our imagination. They not only save existing production costs but also help companies save investment funds and space while alleviating environmental pressure and achieving sustainable development for printing enterprises.
